VIDEO: Mobile Marketplace Takes Place Saturdays at Southgate Community Center in Reston

The Mobile Marketplace is a farmers market-inspired distribution of fresh fruits and vegetables for families in high-need communities.

The Mobile Marketplace is hosted at Southgate Community Center on the fourth Saturday of each month through Nov. 22.

The Fairfax County Department of Neighborhood and Community Services (NCS) and Live Healthy Fairfax are partnering with the Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB) to provide low-income residents in the Reston community with access to seasonal fresh produce at no charge through the CAFB’s Mobile Marketplace program.

This open-air market started on May 24 and continues on the fourth Saturday of every month through Nov. 22 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Southgate Community Center, 12125 Pinecrest Road in Reston.

The Mobile Marketplace is a farmers market-inspired distribution of fresh fruits and vegetables for families in high-need communities. This targeted initiative builds on achievements of similar programs in communities in New York and Chicago where food insecurity rates are highest and households lack access to affordable healthy foods.
