Telephone Town Hall with Connolly Tuesday

Congressman will be calling about 8 p.m.

Congressman Gerry Connolly (D-11) will hold a telephone town hall for residents of Virginia’s 11th Congressional district Tuesday evening.

Connolly's office will be calling constituents at 8 p.m. If your phone rings and you want to participate, stay on the line.

Connolly communications director George Burke said residents who have dialed into the telephone town halls "have praised the format and the convenience of being able to communicate with their congressmen from the comfort of their homes without having to fight traffic."

Connolly started the telephone town halls shortly after he took office in January 2009. Since then, more than 170,000 district residents have participated in a call with the congressman, said Burke. On one call in 2010, more than 30,000 people joined a single call, said Burke.

"Constituents will be called shortly before the meeting begins at 8 p.m.  Connolly will give a brief rundown of the top issues in Congress and issues he is working on and will then open it up to constituent questions," Burke said in a statement. "Any constituents who do not get the opportunity to personally ask a question of Connolly have the option of leaving a voicemail question and will subsequently receive a response."
