Tax Free Shopping This Weekend

Oct. 5 -8 is a good chance to save tax on ENERGY STAR appliances.

Virginia's October Sales Tax Holiday is this weekend. If you purchase qualified ENERGY STAR and WaterSense products over the Columbus Day weekend, Oct. 5-8,  the Commonwealth of Virginia will not charge you a sales tax.

Products with the ENERGY STAR label use 20-30 percent less energy than their counterparts. Purchases of non-commercial home items or personal items cannot total more than $2,500 during the tax-free holiday.

Some items with the ENERGY STAR label: clothes washers; refrigerator/freezers; televisions; cordless phones; heat pumps; furnaces; dishwashers; and water heaters.
