Sequester Affects Hughes MS Art Show at USGS

Middle School can't hold annual art exhibit at Reston's US Geological Survey headquarters due to furloughs and cutbacks.

The sequestration-releated closing of the United States Geological Survey's visitors center has affected another group of local children.

Langston Hughes Middle School has had to cancel its annual April USGS art exhibit and gala.

Hughes students had held an art show at USGS the last several years.

A little over a week ago, parents who had registered their children ages 8-12 for Reston Association's Science Camp held at USGS were informed that science camp could not be held  at USGS this summer due to the sequester cutbacks.

RA is still looking for a place to hold science camp in 2013.
