Rescue Reston, headed by executive director John Pinkman, was formed last summer when it was learned that RN Golf Management, the owners of Reston National, inquired with the county to see if the course could be zoned residential rather than open space.

The county said no, and any redevelopment would require a change to the Fairfax County and Reston Master Plans. RN Golf, which is a subsidiary of Northwestern Mutual Insurance, is appealing that ruling.
