Sanio, Rostant, Chew Earn RA Board Seats

Election results announced at 2012 Annual Meeting.

At large candidates and and South Lakes candidate were elected to the Board of Directors, the association announced at its 2012 Annual Meeting on Tuesday.

Balloting ran March 5 through 30. All three were elected to three-year terms. Chew ran unopposed for the South Lakes seat. Sanio and Rostant were competing with and incumbent for two open at-large seats.

Leaving the board are President Kathleen Driscoll McKee, (South Lakes), who finished her second three-year term and could not run again due to term limits; Vice President Paul Thomas (At-large) who served one term (plus a year of a seat vacated in 2008), who opted not to run again; and Vis.

Driscoll McKee said Reston is a fast-changing place these days - just look at how a Metro station has grown at Wiehle in a year - and it will also keep changing quickly in the next few years. She challenged the new board to make good decisions along with the changes.

"Changes such as these bring new life and new rhythms to a community such as ours and managing this kind of change has been the theme of my administration for the past two years," she said. "For the way we make decisions today is how our children, grandchildren and their children will live."

Rostant says she is up for the challenge.

"I am incredibly excited and honored," said Rostant, a lawyer and triathlete whose supporters could be seen around town in "Runners for Rostant" T-shirts.

Chew returns to the board after a one-year absence. He was an At-large member from 2008-11, but did not run for re-election when his wife was ill last year.

The new board will meet Wednesday night to elect new officers.
