Where and When to Vote
The last day to register to vote was Monday, Oct. 17. If you’re registering in person, the deadline is by 4:30 p.m. If you’re mailing it, it should be postmarked Oct. 17.

Due to statewide redistricting, some voters may be going to a different polling location than in past years, even if the voter has not moved.

WHO’S ON THE BALLOT
Reston’s residents will be selecting a state senator, house delegates, and Fairfax County schools and government officials.
Forrest, Howell: State Senate – District 32
Republican (website, Facebook, Twitter) is running against incumbent Democrat (website, Facebook). Forrest is a former senior official in the Department of Homeland Security. Howell is a current senator; she has served since the early 1990s.
Cannon, Plum: House of Delegates – District 36
Hugh (“Mac”) Cannon, a Republican, is challenging Democrat incumbent Ken Plum. Cannon (website, Facebook) is the executive director of a business trade organization. Plum (website) served in the House of Delegates from 1978 to 1980, and from 1982 until now.
FAIRFAX COUNTY
Reston residents are in the Hunter Mill Fairfax County Board of Supervisors district.
Board of Supervisors Chair
Incumbent (website, Facebook, Twitter)is being challenged by Republican (website, Facebook), Independent candidate Will Radle (YouTube, Facebook) and Independent candidate Christopher DeCarlo (website).
Hunter-Mill District Supervisor
Incumbent Catherine Hudgins (website) is running unopposed.
Fairfax County Sheriff
Republican is facing current in this election. Cooper (website, Facebook) is a former deputy sheriff lieutenant. Barry (website) has been Fairfax County Sheriff for 12 years.
SCHOOL BOARD
Seven candidates are running for at-large seats on the Fairfax County school board. In addition, voters will choose school board representatives for the Hunter Mill district.
