Reston Association VP Thomas Won't Run For Re-Election

Top leadership changes to take place in 2012.

Vice President Paul Thomas says he will not seek re-election for his board of directors seat in 2012.

Thomas, at at-large member, is finishing his first full term as an board of directors member and is RA's representative to the Master Plan Special Study Task Force. He also serves as a liaison to the Design Review Board  and on the Transportation Advisory Committee.

Thomas says he is giving up his seat to spend more time with his family. His children are 10 and 6.

"I want to be able to coach their soccer teams and help with swim team," he said. "I don't have the time and energy to do those things and do all that RA needs."

Thomas has lived in Reston since he was a child and is a graduate of South Lakes High School. He is a curriculum developer for K12 in Herndon and has served on the RA board for four years, first as a replacement for a year left in former director Jen Blackwell's term, then as an at-large director.
