Reston Association Opens Election Season

Beamer, Chew will seek another term on RA Board of Directors.

Two current Board of Directors members will be running for re-election for the Hunters Woods/Dogwood and at-large spots this spring.

Board members Richard Chew (at-large) and Cheryl Beamer (Hunters Woods/ Dogwood) will seek another three-year term on the RA Board. Also in the race: Jason Carlo, Sridhar Ganeshan, Andrew Sigle (all at-large).

The elections committee will also review applications later on Friday for John George (at-large) , Victor Van Rees (Hunters Woods/Dogwood) and Donovan D'Souza (at large). The committee is waiting for statements of candidacy (George) and more petition signatures (Van Rees and D'Souza) from those candidates.

Board of Directors candidates met at RA Thursday night to go over the elections process with Cate Fulkerson, RA's director of administration and member services.

"I was so pleasantly surprised when I saw so many forms [for candidacy] come in by last week's deadline," said Fulkerson.

The candidates will participate in two candidates' forums: 11 a.m. on Feb. 26 and 7 p.m. on Feb. 28.

Ballots will be mailed to RA members on March 7.

Members can vote online or return forms in-person or by mail to RA.  Voting cloese at 5 p.m. on April 1.

The election results will be announced at RA's Annual Members' Meeting, April 12 at 7 p.m.
