Republican Primary: How Reston Voted

A precinct-by-precinct look at primary results for US Senate and 11th Congressional District.

The total turnout was tiny, but Republican voters in Reston gave a large margin of support to former Virginia Gov. George Allen in the  primary Tuesday for the state's open U.S. Senate seat, falling in line 

Allen, who will now face Tim Kaine (D) in November, also won Fairfax County with about 65.4 percent of the vote.

Fewer than 5.1 percent of active voters statewide cast ballots on Tuesday. In Fairfax County, the average was about 5.4 percent.

The turnout was only slightly higher than the state and county averages  for March's Republican Presidential Primary.

In the Republican primary for the 11th Congressional District,  defeated Herndon's  Vaughn won two Reston precincts, though - Hunters Woods and Reston 3.

Perkins will face incumbent Gerry Connolly (D) in November.
