RA Will Carry Over $300K in Projects in 2013

Finishing touches still needed on 2012 capital projects and improvements.

Reston Association will carry over $308,822 in capital projects from 2012 to 2103, said RA Parks & Recreation Director Larry Butler.

The carryover represents 19 percent of the 2012 capital budget. Total carry forward funding, minus the retainer for the Dogwood Pool, represents 13 percent of the Capital Budget, he said.

Speaking at RA's regular meeting Thursday, the last meeting of 2012, Butler outlined the progress of some of 2012's improvement projects and what still needed to be done.

Among them:

Pathways - $6,323

This is the remaining funding for the Twin Branches sidewalk, which is still awaiting final approval in Fairfax County's Land Development Services section.

Community Buildings - $2,000

This is the final portion of the Glade star replacement project.

Lakes and Dams - $40,000

This is for spillway maintenance that RA was unable to get to and the preliminary design of a wall for increasing the impoundment capacity of Lake Anne.

Recreation Areas and Multipurpose Courts - $39, 407

This is funding to complete the redesign and minor site plan for Brown's Chapel ball field No. 2 drainage/layout and the color coats on the Bordeaux and Ivy Oak multipurpose courts, which were paved in 2012.

Dogwood Pool - $90,773

The pool renovations are  "95 percent finished" Butler said.

This reflects the retainer from the contract, some of which may be involved and paid by year's end, said Butler.A portion will be held until early spring, when all of the pool systems are again as RA prepares for the pool's reopening.

Pool Base/Pools  - $92,919

This includes final work on the North Hills trellis; the Uplands Pool spray area (former sand pit); Ridge Heights' retaining wall replacement and the North Shore entrance.

Administration  - $37,400

This is for a website refresh and Great Plains licensing conversion.
