Photo of the Day: Campaign Stop at Simon's

Rep Gerry Connolly (D-VA 11th) talks to Reston founder Bob Simon at his home 13 stories above Lake Anne. Simon and his wife Cheryl opened their home for an event for Congressman Connolly, who is running for re-election.

Also hosting: former Fairfax BOS Chairman Kate Hanley, Hunter Mill Supervisor Cathy Hudgins, Del. Ken Plum, Sen. Janet Howell, and Walter Alcorn of the county planning commission.

As a result of redistricting by the Virginia General Assembly, Reston is once again in Connolly's 11th District after being in Jim Moran's 8th District for 10 years.

Connolly previously represented Reston during his years as Chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. Connolly's opponents in the Nov. 6 election: Republican Chris Perkins; Independents Mark Gibson and Chris Decarlo;  the Green Party's Joe Galdo; and Independent Green Party candidate Peter Marchetti.

Connolly and Simon have a long-standing friendship. Connolly told more than 50 Reston residents in attendance that he looks forward to representing the interests of the community in the U.S. House of Representatives.
