On the Docket: Reston Heights, Sunset Hills

Progress on two more projects near International Center, Reston Station.

Next up in the development of Reston: a discussion about new projects at Reston Heights and adjacent to the Wiehle-Reston East Metro station.

The Reston Planning and Zonning Committee will be discussing two future developments at its Dec. 17 meeting.

JBG's Reston Heights West has been approved for nearly five years. The plan calls for 145,000 square feet of above-grade retail, 100,000 square feet of below grade cellar space, 428,225 square feet of office (including the existing Reston International Center office building), and 675,000 square feet of residential (498 units) in the area around the Sheraton Reston and Westin Reston Heights hotels.

The approved plan included three buildings with heights of approximately 250 feet, two buildings of approximately 150 feet and the existing Reston International Center building of approximately 200 feet.

Developers are seeking to reduce these heights with one building of approximately 200 feet, one building of approximately 150 feet, one building of approximately 90 feet, one building of approximately 60 feet and the existing Reston International Center building at approximately 200 feet.

The amended plan also includes a proposed signalized intersection on Reston Parkway.

The amended plan will go before the Fairfax County Planning Commission in a public hearing on Feb. 28.

The Reston Planning and Zoning Committee will also be discussing the plan from  RBP  & M, LLC and Bozzuto Development Company, who seek rezoning of a parcel at 11401 through 11411 Sunset Hills Rd., directly adjacent to Reston Station.
