Why is he using such a small venue again when he visits this area? Last time it was TJ. Just wondering

Perhaps after the Supreme Court ruled Obamacare was only constitutional under Congresses power to tax, he wants to tell us the some 21 taxes written in the legislation he signed are not a tax at all. He wouldn’t dare admit to a tax increase even on the middle class after his pledge not raise their taxes, would he?
Actually I bet he ducks talking about Obamacare at all.. I would if I were him.

its not Obamacare its HEALTHCARE!
the-stix July 13, 2012 at 07:24 pm
Sorry but the official name is Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, so commonly known as Obamacare that even you Shelijah knew enough to respond.
But whatever it is called it is still 2700 pages of legislation, 21 new taxes which will eventually filter through to taxpayers primarily in the middle, 159 new committees, 13,000 pages and growing of new regulations, and 800 new IRS tax enforcers (also growing). The important feature to Democrats is that PPACA is a major step toward a western European style single-payer system that will exercise complete control over 17% of the nations economy, and the healthcare of over 300 million citizens. And it being single-payer, if you have a complaint your only choice will be to fight it out with the government bureaucracy, as for example you now have to do with say the Motor Vehicle Bureau. But not to fret, if you have the money you will always be able to pay extra for the healthcare choice of doctor, medications, procedures and timeliness of services as you enjoy today.

Sorry, the-stix, but I've had to use the Western European system and have European medical professional friends and it is not "single payer." Many Europeans carry private health insurance - the government system is the "safety net" for those who can't afford private insurance because of job loss, etc. The government health system prevents the exclusion of pre-existing conditions and enables economic flexibity because as it is not employer based insurance is portable between employers and workers are not "chained to the oars" of deadend or sinking jobs. I will deal with the DMV any day in efficient places like Oregon or NY rather than deal with Blue Cross/Blue Shield or the other big insurance companies who will slow roll and obstruct you when it comes time to use your insurance. I am not going to argue the point further but the "complete control" suggestion is inaccurate - France, for example, has patient choice and doctor decision making as protected - maybe more so than in the US. As a Swedish doctor told me when he refused to bill me for an ER visit: "Your American insurance system is an uncivilized nightmare = I've done a residency in the States - but I'd rather treat you for free than deal with your insurance!"

Molly-you have hit it on the head! We shouldn't be starting down this slippery slope of ruleRead More changing for 1 person.I do not know this individual , but that is not the issue here.

If the RA Board approves this self serving move by another RA Board member then the board membersRead More who do so should be voted out of their roles the next time they run for election.
Mike M June 18, 2013 at 02:41 pm
Mr. Farrell, methinks thou protest too much. What ridicule and derision? It seems that you areRead More fanning the flames and rooting out some sort of scandal that, from my view, doesn't exist. As I understand it, there is a by-law provision that allows a homeowner to ask to be included in the RA. This wasn't something made up to accommodate one person. It was adopted for any single homeowner or cluster to opt in. There is no slippery slope. The rule is not being changed or adjusted for one person. The rule or by-law was in place prior to any of this hand wringing. Next, Ms. Rostant and all the other RA Board members are serving on a volunteer basis. Do any of you critics see some sort of gain to be had in this case? I find the witch hunt nature of some regarding this matter to be dubious if not mean spirited. Its easy to sit back in your easy chair and type away on your computer and deliver your edicts to resign. Get the facts. The lack of civility in some of these posts is repulsive.
