Have an old laptop taking up space at your house?

Fairfax County residents can recycle their electronics this weekend in Fairfax.

It's part of the county's periodic Electric Sunday event. County residents can recycle electronics including keyboards, speakers, printers and more. While it's free for residents, they may be asked to show I.D. showing proof of residency.

The event is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the I-66 transfer station, 4816 West Ox Road in Fairfax.

If you can't make it this weekend, there are other Electric Sunday events scheduled in the upcoming months. See the full schedule

This is a really great service that Fairfax offers. We all need to do a better job of disposing all sorts of thing. I dropped off a bunch of random tech items, but then also went to the household products area and dropped off old fryer oil, energy efficient light bulbs, and some paint. The item that concerns me the most is the energy efficient light bulbs. They have mercury in them and they are not supposed to end up in the trash, but I am sure that 99% of families just throw them away. It would be nice if there were more drop off locations all around the area.
