Hunter Mill Recovery Update

Hunter Mill Supervisor Cathy Hudgins says the Hunter Mill District office is working hard to help citizens recover after Friday's storm.

"Though you may have yet to see a repair truck in your area, be assured Dominion Power crews are working to restore the power," Hudgins said in an email to constituents Monday. "Priority is given to get the substations running along with the emergency facilities such as police department, fire departments, and heat relief stations.

  • OakMarr RECenter (3200 Jermantown Road, Oakton)  is open as a heat relief station, offering space to cool down, and charge mobile devices. Showers are available at a fee of $2 dollars per person
  • For residents still without power, the Vienna Community Center will be open for affected residents to cool off. The Community Center will be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Friday
  • To report power outages contact Dominion Power at 1-866-366-4357.  
  • Residents with urgent human services needs should call 703-222-0880, which provides information, referral, linkage, and advocacy to public and private human services available to Fairfax County residents through partnerships with community-based organizations and non-profits.
  • Please only call 9-1-1 if you have an emergency; do not call 9-1-1 to report power outages. If for some reason you are unable to reach 9-1-1, use these alternate numbers: 703-691-7561 or 703-691-3680.
  • Fairfax Connector bus service is operating per its normal schedule. Check the Connector Web page at http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/connector for the current operating status. 
  • Due to the extreme heat, Fairfax Connector and Metro will allow passengers to carry and consume water on the systems through closing Monday, July 2
  • The Connector Store at Reston Town Center Transit Station will be closed today, Monday, July 2 and will remain closed until power is restored. 
  • Residents who know individuals needing special attention are encouraged to take a few minutes to check in on them to ensure their well-being.

  • ,located at 11975 Bowman Towne Dr., needs bottled water, bagged meals, meat, cheeses, fruit, butter, vegetables, granola, and bottled juice. Please call the shelter director, Vincent Jenkins for any questions about shelter operations at 703 437-1396 or Vincent.jenkins@restoninterfaith.org
  • Emergency and Self-Sufficiency Services Program (Food Pantry) located at 11484 Washington Plaza West, Ste. 120 needs canned meats, canned vegetables, canned soup, ramen noodles,  and $25 gift cards to Giant, Harris Teeter, or Safeway.   • Customers of Vienna Water and Falls Church Water:  the boil water advisory has been lifted as of this afternoon.  Residents and businesses no longer need to boil water for use.
