Government Watch: Thoughts on Reston Master Plan and What's Closed for Labor Day

Government news to know this week.

1. The Reston Association Board of Directors has sent notice to Fairfax County Planner Heidi Merkel outlining its views on the latest Reston Master Plan proposal. The RA Board says its goal is to keep Reston's unique character, while at the same time, creating a distinctly urban area within the corridor and minimizing adverse impacts on existing development and open space located within a half mile of the  station platforms, but outside of the commercial corridor.

One of RA's recommendations: Phase 2 planning should not be a part of Phase 1. To read the entire letter, click here.

2. Speaking of the Master Plan, Reston 2020 has concerns about it too. Big concerns. Terry Maynard of Reston 2020 outlines them here.
