Family Fun at Ken Plum Picnic

Virginia Delegate's annual event is for the whole community.

In politics, it is a rare event that is just for fun. But that's what was happening at the Ken Plum Family Picnic and Rally.

Plum has represented Reston in the Virginia House of Delegates for 30 years. The annual picnic - held Saturday at the North Hills Picnic Pavillion  - is to say "thanks."

"This is to show my appreciation of the people who help us all the time. This is also an event for the whole family. My sons are doing the barbequing. We have games for the kids."

Visitors were treated to live music and food.

Stopping by: Reston Association president Kathleen Driscoll McKee; Chairman of the County Board of Supervisors Sharon Bulova; and Fairfax County Public Schools School Board member (Hunter Mill District) Stu Gibson.

"This is a great community," Bulova said. "Ken does this every year for volunteers and the community. One thing is, there is no such thing as apathy here in Fairfax County.
