3 Charged in Incident that Caused Reston Schools To Go On Lockdown

Police: An adult and two juveniles fled from a traffic stop.

An adult and two juveniles were responsible for the concern Thursday that caused South Lakes High School, Langston Hughes Middle School and Terraset Elementary to go on lockdown, police say.

Officers stopped a car in the 2100 block of Whisper Way at about 12:05 p.m., according to Lucy Caldwell, public information officer for the Fairfax County police department, and three people fled on foot.

Police searched for the suspects on the ground and by helicopter.

Caldwell told Patch schools sent out an email to parents at 1 p.m.

A female juvenile found quickly, and two male suspects were found shortly afterwards, Caldwell said.

One of the males, an adult, was charged with an outstanding warrant for unlawful entry and numerous traffic charges. Petitions are pending against the other male, who is a juvenile, she said.
