A Fairfax County judge gave Alfredo Prieto two death sentences on Thursday for the 1988 murders of Rachael Raver and Warren Fulton in a vacant lot near Reston.
This was the third murder conviction for Prieto, 45, who has also been linked by DNA or ballistics to six more slayings. He is already on death row in California for the 1990 rape and shooting of a 15-year-old girl.
The first ended in a mistrial. The second resulted in the death penalty, but was overturned by the Virginia Supreme Court on a technicality. The third trial was held this fall stritcly on the death penalty decision
