Reston Man Who Ran After Child Porn Charge Now Indicted for Fleeing

Suspect did not appear in court in May; was later found in Texas

A federal grand jury has indicted Alex Ernesto Calderon Velasquez, a 27-year-old  Reston man who failed to appear on child pornography charges last month.

Velasquez faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison if convicted of failing to appear.

According to the indictment and other public records, Velasquez was scheduled to plead guilty on May 24  to production of child pornography before United States District Court Judge Anthony J. Trenga in United States v. Alex Ernesto Calderon Velasquez. He did not appear as directed, an FBI spokesman said.

Velasquez allegedly disabled his electronic monitoring bracelet, fled the area, and was found and arrested on June 7 in San Antonio, Texas.

This case was investigated by the FBI Washington Field Office’s Child Exploitation Task Force, the Fairfax County Police Department, and the Harris County Constable’s Office in Texas.
