Reston Man Suspected in Germantown Shooting Remains Jailed on $750K Bond

Solomatin charged with attempted murder.

The $750,000 bond ordered for a was upheld Monday by a Montgomery County District Court judge.

Montgomery County Police allege that video footage shows Dmytro Solomatin, 26, of Reston firing a gun at another man shortly after a fight Saturday at Freestate gas station, at 20650 Germantown Rd., according to records accessed at Montgomery County District Court in Rockville.

Solomatin has been charged with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault and two counts of reckless endangerment. In Maryland, second-degree attempted murder carries a 30-year sentence; first degree assault carries a 25-year sentence.

A defense attorney for Solomatin was not listed in online court records as of late Tuesday afternoon.

A pretrial hearing is scheduled for Sept. 2.

According to district court records, Solomatin and a 38-year-old man reportedly got into a verbal argument as they were exiting the gas station’s store. That argument reportedly escalated into a physical fight near the gas station’s entrance.

After the fight, police allege that Solomatin walked back to his vehicle and the man whom he fought with was standing outside of his own car, where his fiancée was sitting in the front passenger seat, court records state.

Police allege that Solomatin retrieved a 9 mm handgun, pointed it at the man with whom he had just fought, and fired one shot, the court records state.

No one was shot — the bullet reportedly hit the other man’s car. Police said Solomatin voluntarily went to Montgomery County Police station’s 5th district in Germantown about an hour after the incident.
