Reston Man Arrested After Gas Station Shooting in Maryland

26-year-old resident being held on $750K bond in Germantown incident.

A Reston man was charged with attempted murder after a Saturday shooting in Montgomery County.

Dmytro Solomantin, 26, is being held on $750,000 bond. Montgomery County police allege that Solomantin fired a shot at a 38-year-old male after the two got into a physical fight at Freestate gas station, 20650 Frederick Rd. in Germantown.

Montgomery County Police were dispatched to the scene at at 5:53 p.m.

Officer Janelle Smith said there were no injuries reported from the shooting, but a bullet did hit one of the tires on the victim's vehicle. The victim's fiancee was also in the car, police said in a press release Monday.

Smith said that witnesses saw Solomantin leave the scene. He reportedly turned himself into police about an hour after the incident.

Solomantin has been charged with second degree attempted murder, first degree assault, and two charges of reckless endangerment, according to online court records.

A bond review hearing is scheduled for Monday at Montgomery County District Court in Rockville.
