Reston Crime Report: Helicopter Pursuit, K-9 Search After Crash

The following incident information was obtained from the Activity Report provided by Fairfax County Police Department’s Public Information Office. The incidents included are at the discretion of the PIO and are not to be considered all-inclusive.

Fairfax County Police logged the following incidents in the Reston Police District, which includes Reston and some surrounding communities.

PURSUIT, Falcon Ridge Road/Harewood Court, 3:20 a.m. March 24, an officer attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation. The driver sped away and eventually crashed. The driver was able to run away without being captured. The helicopter and a K-9 team assisted in the search. Following an investigation, the officer was able to identify the driver, a 16-year-old, Great Falls juvenile. He was arrested and charged with speed to elude, reckless driving, and possession of alcohol, possession of marijuana, and hit and run.

GRAFFITI, 1900 block of Barton Hill Road, 11 a.m. March 28, an employee reported spray painted words on a dumpster and electrical box. The owners have been notified to remove the graffiti.

BURGLARY, 11900 block of Winterthur Lane, 4 a.m. March 22, a resident reported she woke up and saw a man lying on the floor. She attempted to turn on the light, but he prevented her and fled. A cell phone was stolen. There were no signs of forced entry.
