Reston Camper Remains Hospitalized After Wednesday Pool Rescue

A seven-year old boy who received CPR at a Reston Association pool on Wednesday remained hospitalized Thursday for observation.

The child, a camper at one of RA's summer camps, went into distress during swim time Wednesday at the Golf Course Island Pool.

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue and Reston Association lifeguards administered CPR and the child was taken to Fairfax Inova Hospital.

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue personnel were called to Wednesday at 12:40 p.m. after a child attending a summer camp was in distress in the water.

The child, whose age and gender are unknown, was given CPR at the pool and taken by ambulance to Inova Fairfax Hospital.

Reston Association spokeswoman Amelia Townsend said emergency personnel responded quickly and that more details, such as the camper's condition, would be available later Wednesday.
