Ready, Reston! To Show Emergency Prep
Kid-friendly fun aimed at encouraging public safety at Reston Town Center Saturday.
Are you and your family prepared for an emergency?
Volunteer Fairfax is hosting Ready, Reston! at the Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to make sure you are.
The free event is an opportunity for citizens of Fairfax County to learn about preparation for family and community emergencies, large and small. Emergency management professionals will be on hand, along with volunteer groups, non-profit organizations, and vendors that assist in recovery. There will be plenty of free info to make sure everyone knows the basics.

Among the activities:
Silly Bus will entertain with music and performances for children.

Fairfax County Police Department will provide child safety seat inspections on Discovery Street next to the Pavilion.
Therapy dogs from HOPE Animal-Assisted Crisis Response
Booth by First Defense Krav Maga, teaching kids about situational awareness and self-defense training.
Hand washing demonstrations by Fairfax County Health Department – where youth can wash hands and use a black light to see the germs left behind.
Computer demos by Play Click Learn
Emergency management vehicles such as fire trucks and police cruisers.

Volunteer Fairfax is excited to present Ready, Reston! on Saturday, June 23rd from 9 AM- 1 PM in Reston Town Center. The goal of Ready, Reston! is to provide a family-friendly event where everyone can learn how to prepare for personal emergencies as well as those that might affect the community.
Jeanne Sanders, Executive Director of Volunteer Fairfax says, “It’s often true that we’d rather not think about potential emergencies, but when we take the time to plan for them, we really can empower the community and mitigate damage. Volunteer Fairfax is a connector organization, and we are happy to help the community by bringing together emergency response personnel and interested businesses in a fun environment that offers entertainment for kids and activities for all ages.”
Activities for children include:

- • Booth by First Defense Krav Maga where they will teach kids about situational awareness and self-defense training.
