Police ID Woman Found Dead at Fire Scene

Jennifer Lynne Pearson was pregnant at the time of her death.

Fairfax County Police have identified the dead woman found at the scene of Monday's fire in the 12000 block of Waterside View Drive in Reston as Jennifer Lynne Pearson, 38.

Pearson lived in the apartment at 12002 Waterside View Drive #22, where her body was found. She was pregnant at the time of her death.

Police said Pearson had trauma to her upper body.

The Fairfax County Fire Department was called to the Waterside Apartments at 6:15 a.m Monday when a neighbor reported smelling smoke.

Firefighters forced their way into the second-floor apartment, where they discovered Pearson's body, along with a fire, police public information officer Shelley Broderick said. Police are investigating the incident as a homicide.  The fire was contained to one room, Deputy Chief Fire Marshal Mike Reilly said.

Police detectives and the Office of the Fire Marshal are investigating the woman’s death jointly.

Police also have not released the name of any suspects. Investigators used police dogs along Fairfax County Parkway to try and trace the path of the suspect on Monday.
