Community gathers to promote crime prevention and strengthen ties with law enforcement.
Fairfax County Police took part in National Night Out Tuesday in at several spots in Reston and all over the county.
National Night Out began in 1984 as a national initiative to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships, neighborhood camaraderie and send a message to criminals that community members are watching out for one another.
Reston gatherings took place at Southgate Community Center and at several Reston KinderCare locations.
