Former Seahawk Price Arrested, Dismissed From College Football Team

North Carolina officials charged South Lakes grad Sean Price with felony assault in choking incident.

Former South Lakes football stalwart Sean Price - a redshirt sophomore at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC - was dismissed from the team earlier this week afer he allegedly tried to choke a man with his hands.

The Watauga County Sheriff's Office said Price, 20, of Reston, was arrested early Sunday and charged with felony assault by strangulation, being drunk and disruptive and resisting arrest. Price has a Nov. 21 court date.

Price has had disciplinary issues in previous season. He was suspended for two games in each of his first two seasons at the school, the Charlotte Observer reports. He missed the first two games this season after being charged for public intoxication and disruptive behavior in downtown Boone in August.

"No player in our program, regardless of how talented he is, is above our team, our university or our community," Coach Scott Satterfield said in a statement. "Repeated behavior that does not meet the high standards that we hold our student-athletes to will not be tolerated. I truly hope that Sean gets on the right track and is able to utilize the talent that he possesses in the future. I wish him nothing but the best."

Wide receiver Price played in four games and had 20 catches (third on team) for 237 yards and one touchdown this season. Last year, Price caught 81 passes for 1,196 yards - both single-season records for a freshman - and eight touchdowns in 10 games.
