Fairfax County NAACP and FCPD Council on Diversity Recruiting

Last summer, FCPD hired a new chief, Lt. Col. Edwin Roessler. One of Chief Roessler's objectives is to increase diversity in the police department. Since becoming Chief, he has promoted women and minorities into leadership positions. He also created the “Chief’s Council on Diversity Recruiting (CCDR).”  The objective of the Council is to help identify ways to recruit and retain minorities and women into the department. The goal is to have the department reflect the community that it serves. Fairfax County NAACP President, Shirley Ginwright, is a member of the CCDR. Becoming a police officer could be a great career and possibly a second career for some.
