If You're Headed To A Nationals Game, Check Out These Game-Day Tips!

Check out these game-day tips for attending a Washington Nationals game. How to get tickets, transportation, and food.

The temperature is rising in D.C. and baseball season is also heating up. The Nationals legitimized themselves as a top baseball team last season when they clenched the National League East Division Championship. If you haven't been to Nationals Park to see a game this season make it happen and use these game-day tips to make the most of the experience.

Getting Tickets:

The easiest way to get tickets is to order them online. My favorite site for booking tickets online is stubhub.com. After you find the tickets you want you can print them off straight from your computer. They also have a nifty visualizer tool that will show you what the view will look like for each ticket.

You can get seats for as cheap as $10 for some games but if you want to make the most of your experience I recommend paying a little more to get seats in the left field baseline section. The view is spectacular!

Getting There:

Traffic in the D.C. area is the worst in the nation but luckily our public transportation system makes getting to the game easy.

By Car

Nationals Park is located along the Anacostia River in Southeast Washington at 1500 South Capitol Street, SE. Whether you are coming from Maryland or Virginia check out these directions to get you there. If you plan on driving remember to head to the game early to avoid rush hour traffic.

Parking can sometimes be expensive and hard to find. Find the cheapest spot with this Washington DC parking guide & map.

By Metro

Taking the Metro is by far the quickest, cheapest, & easiest way to get to the game. This official metro map will show you exactly how to get there.

Eating At The Game:

Don’t worry about getting food before the game. Nationals Park has some awesome food options inside the stadium. Some well known D.C. eateries like Five Guys & Ben’s Chili Bowl have set up shop at the park to offer you delicious.

 Top Food Picks:

  •  Change Up Chicken (Located In Section 130),
  • Senators Sausage (Located in Sections: 108,134,141)
  • Ben's Chili (Located In Sections 109,140 301, 315
  • Taste of the Majors (Located in Sections 117,313)

Please feel free to leave your own game-day tips in the comments section below. Go Nats!

You can bring your own meal to the game and 1 water per person. I went to opening game a few years ago and got food posioning from a hot dog. Since that day, my wife and I have been bringing into the stadium items such as gourmet sandwiches, veggies, and even popcorn. The price of tickets and drinks is high enough, not to mention the jersey and hat you may have bought as well. I believe this policy can be found on a Nats website somewhere.

"Outside Food And Beverage All food items must be contained in single serving bags within a soft-sided container or cooler that does not exceed 16" x 16" x 8". Metal, plastic or glass containers of any kind (except for factory-sealed, clear plastic water bottles, no larger than 1 liter, baby food, empty water bottles and juice boxes) are prohibited at Nationals Park. Only one bottle of water per person will be permitted. See GUEST CONDUCT POLICY (Prohibited Items)." http://washington.nationals.mlb.com/was/ballpark/information/index.jsp?content=guide#O
