As part of commemoration of the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War (Sesquicentennial), the Reston Historic Trust is conducting its 2012 lecture series on what happened in Northern Virginia and the Reston area in 1862.
The Presentation Includes:

- The aftermath of the Battle of 2nd Manassas (Bull Run)
- The strategic significance of Hunters Mill and Ridge Roads (now Reston Parkway)
- The devastation of the local farms in the area
- Movement of troops through present- day Reston
The events leading to the Battle of Antietam and what happened to its commanders after the War - The Emancipation Proclamation
Presenters: Civil War historians Jim Anderson and Jim Lewis.
