Simon Will Chair 2013 Best of Reston

Reston founder will chair annual awards for community service.

Reston founder Robert E. Simon will chair the 2013 Best of Reston Awards for community service, the awards sponsors announced Thursday.

and the sponsor the  event, which will have its 22nd annual gala at the on April 11, 2013.

 “The Best of Reston awards honor businesses, organizations and individuals that have put forth community service efforts that reflect Bob’s original vision for our community.  His leadership in our 2013 efforts is an exciting gift to the community,”  Mark Ingrao, Chamber President, said in a statement.

Valerie Novak of Adventures in Paradise, the co-chair of the 2012 gala, said the involvement of Simon, 98, is a great way "to showcase Bob’s plan for an inclusive, diverse community and the impact of Reston Interfaith.” 

Community members can submit nominations for the awards nominations between August and November 2012; information on awards categories and event sponsorship will be available on the sponsoring organizations' websites in July.

Proceeds from Best of Reston support the work of Reston Interfaith to provide affordable housing and connect individuals and families to jobs and other support.
