Vienna resident Len Forkas, founder of the Reston-based nonprofit Hopecam, began his solo Race Across America (RAAM) on Wednesday.
The RAAM is a 3,000-mile course from Oceanside, CA to Annapolis, MD.
Forkas' goal: to finish the race in 12 days and raise more than $150,000 for Hopecam.
