Hyatt Regency Reston Helps Boy Get His Wish

Staff teams with Make-A-Wish Foundation for a trip to Disney.

Staff members at the are helping a boy from Springfield get his wish.

Hyatt associates and the Make-A-Wish -Foundation of the Mid-Atlantic on Monday presented Isaac, 5, with a trip to Walk Disney World in Orlando, where he will get to meet Buzz Lightyear.

The hotel began raising money in June, 2010 through employee donations for “dress down” days where the hotel matched contributions, along with donations of “wish” change thrown into the lobby fountain. One year later, the hotel had raised enough money to grant Isaac’s his wish, says Hyatt spokeswoman Tammy Hagin.

 The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses. Isaac (Make-A-Wish typically withholds last names) and his family will go to Orlando in November.

 “Our associates have taken a sense of pride and warmth in being part of the fundraising efforts to grant this special wish to a local child,” said David Eisenman, general manager of Hyatt Regency Reston. “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to not only meet Isaac and his family, but to join in the celebration of his wish.”
