Cindy's Legacy was founded last year in memory of Cindy Martin.

Martin's daughter, Stacey Brooks, a 1992 graduate of Reston's founded Cindy's Legacy to help other women going through cancer treatment. She was touched by the community's support of Martin through monetary donations, a dance performance fundraiser at South Lakes and people pitching in however they could.

Brooks says all proceeds from the ticket sales will go directly to Cindy's Legacy so the nonprofit can continue to help cancer patients with financial and administrative assistance.

Since the group was founded in November 2011, Cindy's Legacy has assisted nearly a dozen cancer patients and/or their families with financial assistance for gas, utilities, and groceries, says Brooks. The group has also provided dozens of volunteer hours, assisting clients with referrals, resources and fundraising.
