Give To The Max Day Generates $2 Million for Area Charities

Reston Interfaith, other local non-profits will benefit from online fundraiser.

Give To The Max Day: Greater Washington,  a 24-hour online fundraising drive for area non profit on Nov. 9, announced that the event raised $2 million for more than 1,300 agencies.

This includes $1,886,584 in online donations and $148,000 in award money. More than 17,800 people participated, according to event organizers Community Foundation for the National Capital Region, online fundraiser Razoo and United Way of the National Capital Area.

“In addition to raising $2 million, we are thrilled to see how many of our nonprofit members participated and maximized all the benefits of learning more about online fundraising and putting those skills to good use,”  Bill Hanbury, President and CEO, United Way of the National Capital Area, said in a statement.

As part of Give to the Max Day: Greater Washington, nonprofits large and small were eligible to earn their share of more than $148,000 in cash awards, including up to $25,000 for nonprofits with the most donors and the most money donated.
