Gallery: An Outdoor Hanukkah at Lake Anne

About 200 people gathered at Lake Anne Plaza Thursday night to celebrate Hanukkah by lighting a menorah sculpted out of ice.

Reston founder Robert E. Simon lit the menorah, and Rabbi Fajnland of Chabad Reston-Herndon addressed those who gathered and he talked about how a person is like a candle.  A candle's light is not diminished by lighting other candles, unlike most other substances, and the end result is more light, more brilliance.  People are the same way, we grow more brilliant when we share our spark.

The celebration continued at the for hot chocolate,  donuts, latkes, chocolate gelt, and a lively performance by the Chabad Hebrew School.
