A New Reston Community Center

Lake Anne facility finally gets in reopening after two postponements.

Administrators from Reston Founder Robert E. Simon, State Sen. Janet Howell and County Board of Supervisors Chair Sharon Bulova were among those cutting the big red ribbon at the re-opening of RCC's Lake Anne branch on Sunday.

The Lake Anne facility was renovated over the summer, and an additional 4,500 square feet was added.

Among the improvements: art studio classrooms that are twice as large; a 3D media room; two additional pottery wheels (one of which is ADA-accessible), bringing the wheel spaces to 10; two rooms outfitted with spring floors and mirrors that will be used as dedicated fitness studios; a wellness studio; and a new heating and air conditioning system.

The reopening was postponed twice - once because of Tropical Storm Lee and once because of a conflict with a Jewish holiday.
