On the Way In and Out

Think apples, cider, pumpkins, winter squash, and greens!

Doug Linton at Angelic Beef is now bringing kabob cubes for indoor or outdoor grilling and thin fajita slices for a quick and easy sauté, which you can use in any sautéed beef dish or stir-fry. He sampled the Easier than Pie chili last Sunday at Bristow, and it was a big hit. I made it with his ground beef and chorizo, and you can make it at home with the recipe he will have at his stand.

News from Heritage Farm: Pork sale this week on small pork-butt roasts, half off the regular price of $6.75/lb. Check for recipes for this lovely little roast at the Smart Markets table.

Turkey orders are now being accepted. Broad-breasted white turkeys will be offered at $3.95/lb. and the heritage breed at $4.95/lb. As always, we will provide instructions for roasting a free-range turkey as the holiday approaches.

Nyall of Celtic Pasties is back! He will have Beef & Guinness, Cottage Pie Style, Mango Chicken, Spinach & Feta, and Cheese & Onion pasties, plus a new Chicken Parmesan variety.

I am not a cake pop fan -- in fact, I had never had one until vendors started bringing them to market. But Kylie is bringing some great cake pops for all ages; I have recently tried the Creamsicle and the chocolate-covered cherry, and they were great! Kylie works hard at developing her authentic flavors, the cake is very good, and her frostings are high-quality. I am encouraging her to spread her wings with some new items for us grown-ups, but in the meantime, the pops are a tasty treat that won’t break your calorie bank. Ask her about her flavor menu for special orders.

Molly-you have hit it on the head! We shouldn't be starting down this slippery slope of ruleRead More changing for 1 person.I do not know this individual , but that is not the issue here.

If the RA Board approves this self serving move by another RA Board member then the board membersRead More who do so should be voted out of their roles the next time they run for election.

Mr. Farrell, methinks thou protest too much. What ridicule and derision? It seems that you areRead More fanning the flames and rooting out some sort of scandal that, from my view, doesn't exist. As I understand it, there is a by-law provision that allows a homeowner to ask to be included in the RA. This wasn't something made up to accommodate one person. It was adopted for any single homeowner or cluster to opt in. There is no slippery slope. The rule is not being changed or adjusted for one person. The rule or by-law was in place prior to any of this hand wringing. Next, Ms. Rostant and all the other RA Board members are serving on a volunteer basis. Do any of you critics see some sort of gain to be had in this case? I find the witch hunt nature of some regarding this matter to be dubious if not mean spirited. Its easy to sit back in your easy chair and type away on your computer and deliver your edicts to resign. Get the facts. The lack of civility in some of these posts is repulsive.
