Kitten Found in Car Engine Up For Adoption

This traveling cat has already logged a lot of miles.

Prince George's County Animal Shelter is preparing a kitten for adoption after it travelled more than 200 miles in a car engine.

Carolina is a small black cat with a brown stripe on its nose. A New York family was heading home from a vacation in North Carolina when they heard the kitten meow from under the car, according to a post at the Prince George's County Facebook page.

A mechanic at an area Shell Station heard the kitten, but couldn't find her until they put the car on the lift, according to a comment left in the Facebook thread.

Carolina is in good health and will be available for adoption Tuesday, according to WTVR.com.

It's that time of year for kittens to be everywhere. The Prince William County Animal Shelter said Tuesday that the shelter has three times as many kittens as it usually does.
