Flow Blow Dry Bar to Help Embry Rucker Clients

Salon will aid women to "Be Beautiful, Be Strong."

Looking better will go a long way in being better.

That's why FLOW Blow Dry & Beauty Bar is offering complimentary blowout and makeup services to women living in Reston Interfaith’s Embry Rucker Community Shelter .

The outreach is part of FLOW Cares' “Be Beautiful, Be Strong” campaign, says owner Samira Atash.

The ongoing campaign will promote self confidence, strength and self esteem for women who are experiencing less fortunate situations, Atish says.

Reston Interfaith’s Embry Rucker Community shelter is a 70-bed residential shelter in Reston that provides healthy, safe, emergency housing.

Atash said that  each month, two women at the shelter will be invited to FLOW for blowouts or make-up services. They will receive support, encouragement, and even hair and make-up tips, from FLOW staff.

"The goal is to make each woman feel beautiful, and to empower them to feel confident as they transition from the shelter," Atash says.

FLOW staff will also visit the shelter every few months to give hair and make-up lessons and tips.

FLOW clients can also help with this project. Atash says she is asking clients to drop off  unused shampoos and conditioners at the salon. The products will be donated to the shelter.

‘FLOW Cares’ is a mission that supports local charities, schools, non-profits and community causes through the donation of gift cards or services. The “Be Beautiful, Be Strong’ campaign is part of this mission.
