South Lakes High School Choral Department Benefit Concert

SOUTH LAKES HIGH SCHOOL CHORAL DEPARTMENT OPENS CONCERT SEASON WITH BENEFIT FOR GLOBAL CAMPS AFRICA

Singing for Sizanani, a concert of songs from Africa in tribute to that continents' children, will be performed by the South Lakes High School Choral Department, 7 p.m., Tuesday, October 22 at the SLHS Little Theatre.

The concert is free, however, donations will be collected and all proceeds benefiting Global Camps Africa, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping children in South Africa who have been affected by HIV/AIDS.

SLHS alumna Zoe Geyman (2011), a junior anthropology major and music minor at James Madison University, works with the program that sets up camps throughout the year in South Africa. Camp Sizanani takes the poorest and most susceptible kids from the area and teaches them important life skills and ways to combat HIV/AIDS.

Because song is one of the biggest parts of Camp Sizanani, Geyman wanted to use the voices of SLHS choral department to help raise funds  for this important cause.

For more information, please contact Rita Gigliotti, SLHS Choral Director, at 703-715-4591 or at ragigliotti@fcps.edu
