Reston Farmers Market Opens May 3 at Lake Anne

Saturday morning, the old Inca cow bell will ring at
8 AM sharp, opening  the 17th
season of the Reston Farmers Market at Lake Anne.  The Market, sponsored by the Fairfax County
Park Authority, is a far cry from the original market which opened May 16, 1998
and brought new life to a quiet Lake Anne.
The original Market had just 12 farmer-vendors.  The 2014 season will feature 28 vendors, the
Fairfax Master Gardeners and the new Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program
(SNAP) managed by CORNERSTONES.                                           In
addition to the returning 27 of 28 of last year’s vendors, the 2014 Reston
Farmers Market will include Smith Meadows Farm with its all grass-fed meats.  Besides all the scrumptious fruits, vegetables
and meats, Fairfax County’s only seafood vendor, Arnest’s, will return along
with four fine bakers, and two champion cheese vendors--Cherry Glen goat cheese
and Blue Ridge Dairy.  The Market will be
open from 8 AM until 12 noon every Saturday (except Multicultural Festival Day)
May 3 through November 8.
