On January 4, 2014 the Junior League of Northern Virginia will address the problem of homelessness in Northern Virginia by preparing 360 bagged meals for the homeless in support of the January 4th “Day of Service” Each bagged meal will include: Two sandwiches generously filled with deli meat and cheese, a savory snack, a sweet snack, a soft fruit item, a 16 oz. bottle of water, a napkin and utensils. The “Day of Service” will act as the kick-off event for the 2014 inauguration of Virginia’s 72nd governor, Terry McAuliffe. It is a non-partisan event that will bring people together to find common ground and serve the Commonwealth of Virginia. JLNV's bagged meal event will benefit multiple organizations across Northern Virginia serving the homeless community, including Cornerstones, The Carpenter's Shelter, FACETS, A-SPAN, and Northern Virginia Family Service.
