Join friends and neighbors in honoring Dr. King’s legacy by serving your community. As Dr. King said, "Everybody can be great…because anybody can serve." RCC is thrilled to be partnering with the Southgate Community Center, Reston Association, Reston Interfaith, and The Closet on Community Service Projects. Indoor projects include making bag lunches for the Embry Rucker Community Shelter, sorting and organizing items from The Closet, and putting together recycling and trash enclosures for use at the basketball courts and pathways in the area of Southgate Community Center. There will also be an outdoor project, weather permitting, cleaning up the natural areas, pathways, and landscape surrounding the area. When everything is done around noon, volunteers will gather together and share lunch that will be provided. Sorting donations is for ages 13 and up. Children 12 and younger are welcome to participate in the other projects, but they must be accompanied by an adult age 18 or older.

To volunteer, please contact Ha Brock, Reston Association Community Outreach Specialist, at 703-435-7986 or email habrock@reston.org. Please specify what project you are interested in.
