Community Corner

Joshua Newman Memorial 5K Glory Days Fundraisers

On November 20th, 2010, twelve year old Joshua Newman passed away from SUDEP (Sudden, Unexplained Death from Epilepsy). Joshua was a much loved sixth grader at Fox Mill ES when he passed, and to honor his short but wonderful life a 5K community walk and run will be held in his honor. (More on the 5K in an earlier post by Diane Swecker). All race profits will go to a 501c3 tax exempt organization called the Danny Did Foundation. Danny Did raises money to buy seizure detection equiptment for children with epilepsy to prevent something like this from ever happening again.

Before the race, on Thursday, October 25th at Glory Days Grill in the Fox Mill Shopping Center, a sponsor night will held to raise money for the event and the Danny Did Foundation. Come with your family for a fun and delicious dinner-night-out at Glory Days Reston and give your reciept to the 5K representative at the front of the restaraunt. Ten percent of your bill will go to our cause!

Hope to see you there!
