Art Opening, COLORFUL TIMES FOUR
COLORFUL
TIMES FOUR is the show title for
paintings by four accomplished Reston Artists:
Ann Barbieri, Joan Kelly, Dana Scheurer and Connie Slack. Each has a long affiliation with The Greater
Reston Arts Center (Grace) and the Reston community. The common thread for these artists is the boldly imaginative use of color. There is nothing
too subtle here. Ann
Barbieri’s paintings have a Matisse quality, very French and expressive, often developing from still lifes or interiors.
Ann’s paintings cover the spectrum and delight the eye. Joan
Kelly’s figurative paintings remind the viewer of the magical moment when people relax, dream and escape into their fantasies and thoughts. Vibrant color, lush flora and swirling
patterns complete this mood. Dana
Scheurer’s work can be seen in the newly completed mural on New Dominion Parkway. Dana paints illustrative watercolors that combine elegance and whimsy. It is an adventure to study one of her pieces and find memories hiding under a bench or in a picture frame. Connie Slack paints bold, expressive abstractions inspired by her experiences and travel. Connie likes red. And says most paintings are better with a touch of red.
