Who is Ready for Founder's Day Fun?

Wish Reston's founder Robert E. Simon a happy birthday on April 13.

Can you fit 99 candles on one birthday cake?

Find out at Founder's Day on Saturday, April 13 as Reston celebrates founder Robert E. Simon's 99th birthday and Reston's 49th anniversary.

The fun runs from noon to 4 p.m. at Lake Anne Plaza.

Highlights:

* The third annual Amazing Reston Founders Day Treasure Hunt - a two-hour adventure to discover 10 of Reston's unique places and history. There will be prizes for all finishers and a drawing for an exciting grand prize.

Participants will follow clues to 10 locations around Reston.  The hunt begins at the Reston Museum at Lake Anne at 1:30 p.m.  Participants are given a set of clues leading them to 10 sites, where they will receive stickers proving they have arrived there.

Return to the Museum by 3:30 when participants will receive medals and be eligible for a drawing of 3 fine prizes.  Children with parents welcome!  

Automobile travel required, as the sites are distributed throughout the community.

* Musical entertainment, remarks from local officials and, of course, cake.

* Dedication of new commemorative bricks on the plaza.

* Take part in recording a video oral history segment about your experiences in Reston. Selections may be used in the upcoming documentary film celebrating Reston's 50th anniversary.
