Want Your News on Reston Patch? Here is How

Follow these steps to share your info, events and announcements.

News, events, announcements. There is a lot going on in Reston, and Reston Patch needs your help to make sure everyone knows it.

There are many ways of sharing your news with others Reston Patch, and it's easy and free.

Whether your club is holding a special event or hosting a great speaker, your   team won its tournament, or other great news you've got to share, here's how:

Sign up for a Patch account. It's easy and free. (You can also choose to receive the daily newsletter, which highlights articles posted in the past 24 hours, or the breaking news alerts, which let you know when something big is happening in town.)

Next go to our announcements section and click the "announce something" in the drop down menu.  Type your title, choose a category and write your newsworthy info in the space provided under description. If you're not sure which category to choose, pick Social Notes.

Make sure to upload any related photos, flyers or PDFs you have and click "post my announcement." Photos will help pull people's attention to your announcement. You're all set.

Once your announcement is edited, it should show up on Reston Patch. If it looks like something that should be shared with the community and has a photo, flyer or PDF attached we can feature it to the front page.

And don't forget to add your events to our events calendar too. Both events and announcements show up in our daily newsletters.

Think your news is so big we should cover it in a traditional article? Email  KarenG@patch.com to let her know.

Thank you for the tid bit regarding using the "Social Notes" category :) There are times I think about submitting something but do not since none of the categories seem to match my topic(s). I will use "Social Notes" for next time. Thank you!
